In The Spotlight | Featured Shops: Vivian Chan

You may have seen a photo feature in the first Le Weekend & Links to Love post and thought it'd be the perfect moment to introduce the brand, Vivian Chan, as today's featured shop.



Came across Vivian Chan through a local photographer and, admittedly, have been obsessing over each and every piece, from the initial collection to the recent summer 2014 release!

There's a clear resemblance of edginess and a strong pull towards femininity to each outfit (see Annie top) and this edgy and feminine look has always been a favorite, next to the soft and sexy, and laid back feminine.

Founded and made in Los Angeles, California, Vivian Chan provides that perfect ounce of playful pop in each design. Each piece is appropriately named by other people who've personally influenced the designer's life.

A few favorite pieces include the Rosie skirt (such a fitting name & pictured on right above), the appropriately feminine masculine Raymond dress, and the sexy slip Parker dress.

In The Spotlight | Featured Shops: The White Ribbon

Couldn't imagine what a perfect pair of ballet flats aren't good for; long, long strolls in the garden, running errands out of the office, and weekends exploring new places in the city to name a few.



Designed and produced by Dori and Michele in London and Berlin, fell in love with The White Ribbon's impeccably simple design of classic ballet flats, made of responsibly sourced, upcycled leather. The soft round toes and abundance of neutral colors (and just recently, some bright ones and patterned ones) make it so hard to choose which one to covet!

In The Spotlight | Featured Shops: Doloris Petunia

Never seized an opportunity to be a flower girl for someone's ceremony, but these completely adorable flower girl dresses from Doloris Petunia make me wish so badly that there was a chance. All dresses are maximized for "twirl-a-bility" and there's French lilac and buttercream lace, layers upon layers of tulle, pearl buttons and velvet sashes...every girl would want to be a flower girl in such dresses!

Dreaming of an adult sized version of the Pamela dress, covered in thousands of hand dyed blush toned petals, with Swarovski crystals, a little reminiscent of the prettily placed floral appliqués from Elena Perminova in GiambattistaValli's embellished mini dress last year and how magnificently feminine and utterly cool that street-styled outfit was...

Could the modern Parisienne be eternally chic, effortlessly cool and, quite possibly, eco friendly all at once? Such a question has undoubtedly been answered by The Reformation, an environmentally sustainable fashion brand that refashions vintage and surplus materials to create chic, limited edition collections.



Yael Afalo, after having been dismayed by the fashion industry's contribution to waste and earthly pollution, sought to create a company whose vision focused on the environment's well-being in 2009. And so, instead of designing and producing new styles from scratch, The Reformation dedicates itself to a truly green way of manufacturing new clothes, by reinventing vintage ones.

"Our locally sourced production creates domestic jobs, and does not contribute to global pollution when shipping and receiving from overseas. Our collection is truly exclusive, everything is a limited edition or one of a kind. We concept and produce our collections in just a few weeks. We design what we want now and get it to you right away."



There are many of us, myself being one, who love to shop vintage, but know that it can be time consuming and sometimes, unsuccessful. The Reformation's line is divided into three easy-to-shop categories: Standard, Curated and Refashioned. Each line addresses a certain vintage garment preference from basics to limited edition vintage pieces in more current silhouettes.

"We are inspired by, and committed to, finding ways to make our fashion addiction guilt-free!"



And with the endless supply of striped dresses, cropped tops, boyfriend jeans and flowy, glamorous, but wearable-for-all-occasion-dresses featured at The Reformation, it seems as if all Parisienne inspired wardrobe problems have all been solved...

In The Spotlight | Featured Shops: Jennie Kwon Designs

It makes me so, so sad to say that I have lost the dearest jewelry gift that my sister gave for my birthday two years ago. It was a dainty ring that read, "love" that I always wore regardless of my outfits, for it had so much meaning to my soul and to my life.

Out of all times, I lost it during a day with some of my favorite darlings, exploring the city of San Diego. It seems as though new memories from a day full of adventures will supersede the lost of one trinket that held so many other memories - it must be true as they say that when one door closes, another one opens.

Speaking of my sister, she recently introduced me to Jennie Kwon Designs and since then, have fallen in love with all the dainty, elegant pieces her shop has to offer.  Jennie Kwon, former corporate law attorney turned jewelry designer, launched her shop last year after a creative epiphany during maternity leave.

All pieces would complement any inspired outfit very well, as previously featured. Personally adoring the Diamond 3 Bezel Cuff and Mini White Equilibrium Cuff bracelets, and the Tri Pearl Ring.



As Leonardo Da Vinci once claimed, "simplicity is the ultimate form of sophistication." There is no better way to describe Jennie Kwon's delicate, yet impactful jewelry other than the fact that less is so, so much more...
